A constantly evolving project<\/h3>

Built in 1994 in the northern part of Reggio Emilia, it immediately became a state-of-the-art stadium<\/strong> on the Italian football scene. Since December 2013, the stadium has been under exclusive concession to Mapei Stadium Srl. Since then, a process of constant modernization has been underway to bring the facility up to international standards.<\/p>\n

Many improvements have been made, from the renovation of the playing field and benches to the installation of LED advertising boards around the pitch and two giant screens. The stands have been refurbished and new seats installed, the various indoor and outdoor areas have been repainted, the furnishings of the 32 vip boxes and hospitality areas have been renovated, and the three changing rooms have been completely refurbished to better accommodate both the home and away teams. Thanks to the \u201cOpen Stadium without Barriers\u201d project, the structures separating the pitch from the stands have been reduced, with the aim of transforming Mapei Stadium into a place where fans can enjoy a positive and safe experience, feeling like an integral part of the sporting event. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

In 2019, the Mapei Stadium took another step forward with the construction of a new 108-seat press stand and a modern conference room capable of accommodating over 80 journalists and media operators. In addition, there is a large media working area and a flash interview area that complies with all Uefa requirements. <\/p>\n

But the work did not stop there. The roofs of the Main and Front stands have been renovated and, as part of the modernization process, the latest generation of digital turnstiles have been installed, allowing access via smartphone, simplifying checks and speeding up entry. The TV compound\u2014the technological heart of broadcasting and events\u2014has also been completely renovated to ensure efficiency and services for broadcasters from all over the world. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

2023 marked a further step forward, bringing innovation to the visual and emotional experience: the lighting system for the playing field was completely revamped, integrated with a new series of projectors dedicated to entertainment and scenic lighting, both inside and outside the stadium. Thanks to technology from Thorn, a Zumtobel Group brand, Mapei Stadium can now offer spectacular light and color displays that are fully customizable. The 2025\/26 season marks another major innovation: Mapei Stadium has been fitted with new, 100% natural turf, produced by Italian company Paradello using NorthBridge, a type of grass created by Oklahoma State University and also used on the pitches for the 2026 World Cup in North America.<\/p>\n

This is an important choice, as it confirms the transition from a hybrid system to a 100% natural pitch, selected for its excellent performance: it tolerates cold well, maintains a bright green color even in winter, roots easily, and is highly resistant, remaining uniform and performing well even with intensive use, as is the case at Mapei Stadium, which regularly hosts more than one match per week.<\/p>\n

The stadium also supports important social initiatives. In September 2024, Mapei Stadium joined the \u201cParole Parole Parole<\/strong>\u201d project by Reggio Emilia artist Elena Mazzi<\/strong>, dedicated to the fight against violence against women. Special wallpaper has been installed in some significant areas of the stadium (the press room and the two public areas in front of the Sassuolo Lounge and the Mapei Lounge). Those passing through these spaces will initially be struck by the colorful wall and its pop graphics. Looking closer, they will discover its hidden message, made up of words and phrases from women who have suffered violence and told their stories.
