This morning, Mapei Stadium hosted a conference entitled “From turf to fan experience: technologies at the service of stadiums”, an event dedicated to professionals in the sports sector and focused on the evolution of facilities in terms of innovation, sustainability, and the centrality of the fan experience.
The event, hosted at the stadium in Reggio Emilia, was attended by Simona Giorgetta, CEO of Mapei Stadium, along with numerous operators and professionals from the world of sports. Alec Invernizzi, Head of Operations of Sassuolo Calcio, participated on behalf of the black&green club. In his speech, he addressed the centrality of sports centers in modern football, underlining the strategic value of owned infrastructure. Invernizzi highlighted how assets such as Mapei Football Center and Mapei Stadium represent not only an operational advantage but also a fundamental resource in terms of planning, sustainability, and long-term growth for a club like Sassuolo.
During the morning, the new Mapei project was also presented: “In Panchina” (On the nench), an initiative that promotes the recovery of the stadium’s old synthetic turf, recently replaced by 100% natural grass. In a concrete example of circular economy, the discarded polypropylene yarn was recovered, treated, and transformed into 14 benches, which will be installed in the coming weeks in the outdoor areas and in the parking lot in front of the stadium.
It was an opportunity for discussion and sharing that focused on innovation, sustainability, and the future vision of stadiums, confirming once again that Mapei Stadium is a benchmark not only for sport, but also for design and, above all, culture.
