On the afternoon of Wednesday 27 May 2026, the Rivalta Sports Ground once again hosted an important occasion for the Regional “G. Garibaldi” Institute for the Blind in Reggio Emilia and Sassuolo Calcio to come together and share experiences.
Founded in 1883, the “G. Garibaldi” Regional Institute for the Blind is an institution dedicated to the educational and social integration of people with visual and multiple disabilities, promoting tangible opportunities for inclusion.
The stars of the afternoon were the children and young people from the Institute, who engaged, alongside the Sassuolo players and staff, in a series of recreational and sporting activities designed to encourage collaboration, listening and sharing. Among the experiences available, kicking and passing a special sound-emitting ball – carried out whilst blindfolded – allowed participants to experience first-hand the importance of spatial awareness, trust and teamwork without the aid of sight.
Representing Sassuolo were the Women’s Primavera team, along with the coaching staff led by manager Davide Balugani, the Director of Women’s Football Development Alessandro Terzi, and the Head of the Women’s Youth Sector Riccardo Soragni.
The event concluded with closing remarks from Honorary President and Brand Ambassador Betty Vignotto and the President of the Garibaldi Institute, Stefano Tortini, before the customary ‘third half’ – a light refreshment reception on the sidelines – which brought the day to an end in an atmosphere of joy, inclusion and mutual enrichment.
