Sassuolo-Torino | Two four-legged guests on the pitch with the captains of both teams

21 December 2025

Today, in the pre-match build-up to Sassuolo-Torino, the players from both teams took to the pitch accompanied by two very special guests: Bonzo and Gino, two four-legged friends from the “Punto & Virgola” dog and cat shelter in Formigine and Magreta (Modena).

The initiative, also supported by Torino FC, is part of the black&green project “Un Gol a 4 Zampe” (A Four-Legged Goal), launched in November 2024 with the aim of raising public awareness on the issue of pets’ adoption.

Bonzo is a two-month-old mixed-breed puppy who was found abandoned in the area. Gino, on the other hand, is a 9-year-old Boxer who arrived at the shelter after his owners passed away. A puppy and an elderly dog, side by side, symbolically representing all the animals housed in shelters who await a new family every day, regardless of their age, breed, or history.

Ahead of 2026, Sassuolo Calcio has also expanded the project with the creation of a calendar in which male and female players posed alongside the shelter’s residents. The calendar is available at Sassuolo Store and online, and all sale proceeds will be donated to the association 4 Zampe per l’Emilia, which is involved in the reception, care, and recovery of animals housed in the facility.

A small gesture before kickoff, to win an important game together, even off the pitch.
