Sassuolo Calcio renews its commitment to digital awareness with a new Social OFF day, scheduled for Friday, January 23, during which the Club’s official social media accounts will remain voluntarily inactive. Following the launch of the campaign last December during the Christmas holidays, the club invites fans, parents and young people to pause, reflect, and rediscover the value of the offline world.
The latest data from the Digital 2026 Global Overview Report confirms that the use of social networks is increasingly pervasive, especially among youngsters. According to recent data on global digital trends processed by Meltwater in collaboration with We Are Social, the younger generations spend a significant part of their daily lives online. The 16-24 age group spends an average of over 24 hours a week on social media: 25 hours and 45 minutes per week for girls and 23 hours and 36 minutes for boys.
An analysis of the most used platforms* in Italy also confirms the central role of social media in everyday digital life:
- TikTok records an average daily time per user of 1 hour and 30 minutes
- YouTube follows with 1 hour and 10 minutes per day
- Instagram stands at 1 hour and 7 minutes per day
Not only total time, but also frequency of use*: in 2025, each Italian user opened WhatsApp an average of 23.8 times per day, Instagram 15.3 times, and TikTok 10.9 times, a sign of a continuous and fragmented connection that accompanies the entire day.
It is precisely based on these figures that the Social OFF initiative was created. It is designed not as a rejection of technology, but as aninvitation to a more balanced and conscious use, capable of leaving room for the offline dimension, direct dialogue, sport, family, and community.
On Friday, January 23, Sassuolo Calcio will shut down its social media channels to raise collective awareness. To take a break is possible.
