U.S. Sassuolo Calcio announces the signing of Arijanet Murić (goalkeeper, born in 1998) from Ipswich Town on loan with option to buy.
Murić was born in Schlieren, Switzerland, in 1998, and grew up in the academy of Zurich and Grasshoppers before moving to Manchester City in 2015. He remained with the Citizens until 2018, signing his first professional contract before joining NAC Breda on loan, making his debut in big league football on August 18, 2018 in Eredivise. He didn’t stay much in the Netherlands as he was immediately brought back to Manchester and just a month later he made his debut in the League Cup, staying in Manchester that season.
In July 2022 he moved to Nottingham Forest before wearing the Girona, Willem II and Adama Demirspor jersey in various European loans. In July 2022 he was signed by Burnley with whom he won the Championship the first year and by the end of the two-year period with the Clarets he had played 51 games between the Championship, the Premier League and national cups. In 2024 he went to Ipswich Town with whom he played 13 Premier League matches in the last season.
Regarding the national team, he chose to represent Montenegro first, due to his origins, debuting with the Under-21 team in September 2017. Then, also having Kosovar origins, he decides to defend the goal of the Kosovo senior national team with which he has collected over 40 appearances so far since 2018.
From the whole black&green family, welcome Arijanet!
