U.S. Sassuolo Calcio announces the signing of Jay Idzes (defeder, 2000) from Venezia FC.

Born in Mierlo on June, 2nd 2000, Idzes is an Indonesian-naturalized Dutch footballer, raised in the academy of PSV Eindhoven. After his youth training in the Netherlands, he made his professional debut with the Go Ahead Eagles jersey, with which he collected 93 appearances and 3 goals in three seasons.

In 2022, he arrived in Italy at Venezia FC, soon becoming one of the reference points of the lagoon defense. With the Venetians, he played 66 games between Serie A and Serie B, scoring a brace on May 1st 2024 against Catanzaro and scoring his first goal in Serie A in December 2024 against Juventus.

Thanks to his mother’s origins, he chose to represent the Indonesian national team, with which he debuted in March 2024 and scored his first goal just five days later, against Vietnam. In September 2024, he was appointed captain of the national team.
