Coppa Italia Women | Napoli-Sassuolo 3-1

20 December 2025

Sassuolo’s run in the Coppa Italia Women came to an end in the round of 16. The Neroverdi were beaten 3-1 by Napoli at the end of a hard-fought match played with good intensity by both teams.

In the first half, Sassuolo held their own, creating several chances and responding blow for blow to Napoli’s attacks. However, the hosts took the lead through Kozak before halftime, capitalizing on one of the chances created in the final stages of the half.

In the second half, the Neroverdi came back with determination and continued to search for the equalizer. Napoli took a 2-0 lead in the 64th minute with a goal from Fløe, but the Neroverdi reduced the deficit in the 75th minute with a goal from Dhont, reopening the match. In the final minutes, the pressure from Alessandro Spugna’s team grew, and in the 84th minute, there was an episode that gave the illusion of a 2-2 draw: following a corner kick, the ball ended up in the net, but an offside call canceled out the equalizer that would have sent the match into extra time. In stoppage time, Napoli finally sealed the deal with substitute Vanmechelen.

Now Sassuolo has a long break before returning to the pitch on the weekend of January 18 when the league resumes.
