The Mapei Football Center hosted the Primavera 1 Women Final Four, with Sassuolo facing Roma for a place in the final, scheduled for Monday 11 May at 18:00 at the Ricci Stadium.
Sassuolo showed positive signs from the opening minutes, with well-organized counter-pressing and attacking moves down the wings leading them into the opposition’s box, though without seriously troubling Mazzocchi.
Roma had their first big chance in the 11th minute: Bedini struck well from distance, but Mino reacted superbly, tipping the ball onto the crossbar and then out for a corner.
Sassuolo responded through Stanić, who ran in behind the Roma defense following a precise long pass from Andersone, but her left-footed effort was saved by Mazzocchi.
From a goal kick, Sassuolo continued their aggressive pressing: Touré won back possession and delivered into the box. After a partial clearance, she headed the ball across goal for Stanić, who tapped in from close range to give Sassuolo the lead in the 15th minute.
Another corner, earned through Vianello’s pressing, found Stanić again, but the Roma defense managed to clear before the ball could cross the line.
Sassuolo created another opportunity through a midfield recovery by Guerzoni, who beat her opponent and set up Touré. After a feint, Touré fired from the edge of the box, but Mazzocchi was ready.
In the latter part of the first half, Roma gained ground, but Sassuolo held firm while still threatening on the counter through Stanić and Touré.
Mino proved crucial just before halftime: Bedini broke into the box and shot towards an open goal, but Sassuolo’s goalkeeper made a vital diving save.
At the start of the second half, Azzena drove forward from midfield and found Stanić on the right, whose cross was met by Vianello, but her shot hit the crossbar.
Sassuolo continued to press: Azzena found Stanić again, who laid it off to substitute Guglielmini, whose left-footed shot went wide.
A strong recovery by Vianello sparked another move, with Guglielmini spotting Stanić’s run. The striker entered the box and played a low cross, but Mazzocchi intervened.
A huge chance came in the 81st minute: Touré, outstanding in ball recoveries, set Stanić through, but Mazzocchi denied her once again.
In stoppage time, Andersone won possession near her own box and launched a counterattack. She found Stanić in open space: the forward rounded the goalkeeper and calmly slotted home from distance to seal the win in the 95th minute.
After an outstanding 97-minute performance, Sassuolo secured their place in Monday’s final at the Ricci Stadium.
