Social responsibility

You are here:

For Sassuolo Calcio, social responsibility is a daily commitment that translates into concrete projects that are close to people, animals and the environment. The club firmly believes that sport should be a tool for inclusion, awareness and support, capable of generating value far beyond the playing field.

Through solidarity initiatives, inclusive events and collaborations with local organisations and associations, Sassuolo aims to actively contribute to the well-being of the local area and the growth of a culture, not only in sport, based on respect, participation and responsibility.

At the heart of Sassuolo Calcio’s social commitment lies Generazione S, an innovative and free project that promotes the sporting and personal growth of the younger generation by sharing the values, methodology and educational vision of Sassuolo Calcio. Find out more in the section dedicated to Generation S.

Sassuolo for Special

Since 2020, Sassuolo Calcio has adopted, under the name Sassuolo for Special, the ASD San Prospero Correggio team, a club in the province of Reggio Emilia that promotes sporting activities for athletes with cognitive and relational disabilities.

The project offers these young athletes the opportunity to play football in an educational and inclusive environment, based on values such as friendship, togetherness and team spirit.. The team participates in the DCPS-FIGC (Paralympic and Experimental Football Division) championship, confirming Sassuolo’s commitment to making football truly accessible to all.

A four-pawed Goal

“Un Gol a 4 Zampe” is an initiative launched in November 2024 in collaboration with the inter-municipal dog and cat shelter “Punto&Virgola” in Formigine-Magreta, with the aim of promoting the adoption of abandoned or mistreated animals.

Through photographs and videos created together with the black&green players, the project told stories of dogs and cats looking for a second chance. The initiative led to the adoption of seven animals in the 2024/25 season, generating a positive response and helping to raise public awareness of an issue of great social importance.

Alongside Sassuolo Hospital

The relationship between U.S. Sassuolo Calcio and Sassuolo Hospital is based on concrete actions and continuity over time: from supporting the pediatric ward with visits and gifts for patients and medical staff during the holidays, to the donation of a hysteroscope in 2023 for the prevention of female diseases, to support during the Covid-19 pandemic, with a donation of €100,000 for the purchase of protective equipment and intensive care equipment.

Against Gender-Based Violence

Sassuolo Calcio is actively committed to tackling gender-based violence, supporting local projects and organisations that work every day to defend women’s rights.

Among the most recent initiatives is “Segni Visibili” (Visible Signs), a project carried out in collaboration with the association “Non è colpa mia” (It’s Not My Fault) in support of the TINA Anti-Violence Center in Sassuolo. The initiative aims to promote a culture of respect through awareness campaigns and concrete support for women who are victims of violence.

EAFF Champions League Amputee

From 20 to 22 September 2024, Sassuolo Calcio hosted the EAFF Amputee Champions League for the first time in Italy at Mapei Football Center and Enzo Ricci Stadium.. Eight European teams competed in a great sporting and human value tournament.

The event is a natural extension of the Generazione S project, promoting inclusion and participation through football. The club was actively involved in the organisation, offering a memorable experience to athletes and fans alike, in the spirit of diversity and accessibility.

Solidarity in the areas affected by the earthquake

Sassuolo Calcio has always responded promptly to emergencies affecting Italy, starting with the 2012 Emilia earthquake, with the campaign “Un calcio al terremoto” (A kick against the earthquake), which raised over €127,000 for sports projects in the affected areas, such as the purchase of minibuses for local sports clubs and the allocation of funds for the reconstruction of gyms and multi-purpose centers.

In 2016, after the earthquake in central Italy, the “EuroSassuolo per il Cuore d’Italia” (EuroSassuolo for the Heart of Italy) initiative was launched, which enabled the donation of a minibus to Arquata del Tronto Football Club and support for projects such as the purchase of a snow blower for the Civil Protection Agency. Subsequently, thanks to the collaboration with Arenbì Onlus and La Via del Sale, pellet stoves and resources for the accommodation of over 100 people left homeless were provided.
