Palmares

In 2017, Sassuolo Calcio’s Primavera (youth team) won the 69th edition of the Viareggio Tournament.

After passing the group stage on equal points with Bologna (PSV and Pisa were eliminated), in the round of 16 the Black&greens beat Fiorentina during the penalty shootout (1-1 at the end of the game). The same thing happened in the quarter-finals, when Paolo Mandelli’s players defeated Inter (1-1 at the end of the 90 min.) while, in the semi-finals, it was Torino who were beaten from the penalty spot after the final 0-0.

The final success came by beating Empoli during the penalty shootout, once again. Gianluca Scamacca, who scored the 2-2 goal at the end of regulation time and then transformed the winning penalty, has been decisive. Sassuolo also won the title of the best goalkeeper of the tournament: Bryan Costa.

In 2018, Sassuolo Calcio’s Berretti was the protagonist of a fantastic double, winning both the Championship and the Super Cup.

The Black&greens qualified for the final phase reserved to the professional teams after finishing first in the Group A. In the semifinals, coach Stefano Morrone’s team beat Atalanta: away win 4-2 in the first leg and 1-1 in the second one. The Black&greens conquered the title of Italian Champion in the Berretti category, beating Torino 6-2 in the final: it is the first Italian championship at youth level for Sassuolo.

After the Scudetto, captain Raspadori and his teammates also won the Supercoppa Berretti. At the Comunale of Francavilla, Sassuolo beat Ferlapisalò (winner of the Berretti title for Serie C teams) 3-0.
